Botox is an injection of botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin that freezes nerves and relaxes muscles. It reduces and removes wrinkles and fine lines on your forehead and around your eyes and mouth.
While Botox is active under your skin, it relaxes muscles that clench and cause wrinkles on your face. After Botox, you can expect zero wrinkles for three to six months.
The injection does wear off after three to six months, though. But you can get more Botox to continue preventing wrinkles.
One of the main benefits of Botox is that there is no down period after your injections. They take less than thirty minutes to get, and afterward, you can go about your typical day.
Common side effects are swelling, bruising, and pain around the injection site. But these are rare and don’t prevent you from living your everyday life.
Your wrinkles should be gone within a few days of your injections. But, deeper wrinkles may take longer to disappear.
Within two weeks, the injections should take full effect. Then you can enjoy months of wrinkle-free skin.
